Hello there – I’ve realised that a previous email didn’t send on my end, but apologies if you receive this twice!
I’m a local Footscray resident and passionate about history and museum studies – I noticed you might be looking for someone to assist with the digitisation of negatives or with cataloging or filing work, and I would be keen to get involved!
I have completed a Master of Art Curatorship and Grad Diploma in Art History at the University of Melbourne, including studies in archiving and conservation. I recently did some work with the Grainger Museum in Parkville, researching and putting together a display from the archive as well as writing all of the associated published material, so I can help with any proof-reading or writing too. I’m also a qualified Graphic Designer and Illustrator so fairly handy making graphics and working with a range of software.
At the moment I’m working casually so I can offer fairly flexible hours, and (as I mentioned earlier) I’m only a few minutes walk from the beautiful old Ercildoune building. I love rifling through old photographs, newspapers and magazines and understand how important it is for the community to keep historical archives up to date and accessible for future generations – please feel free to get in touch if you think I can help!
Hi, my name is Michael Herlihy and I have recently moved to Melbourne and am a Librarian at Maribyrnong Libraries. I have come from working at the National Library in Canberra
I would love to get involved and have the skills and experience to work in all the volunteer roles described above. I would be particularly interested in cataloguing and digitisation, but happy to assist in whatever is most needed.
