Giving’s great

Footscray Historical Society benefits greatly from generous members, donors and sponsors.

Talk to our committee members about ways to support Footscray Historical Society that are tailored to suit you.

Value adding to membership fees

An easy way for members to give even more is to donate while paying subscription fees.

This helps with the ongoing running costs e.g. stationery, water rates, electricity bills.

Give a little extra - it all adds up!

Community fundraising events

Every year, Seddon Community Bank and Inner West Community Enterprises promote partnerships of local philanthropists and community groups. Footscray Historical Society has attended every Community Pitch held at the Yarraville Club since 2015 for projects such as:

  • The digitizing of the Eddie Warden photographic negatives
  • Restocking the book store
  • Development of online resources
  • Catering for the 2018 jubilee celebration
  • Art in the Ercildoune garden

In-kind support

Katie Hall MP for Footscray helps with production of our quarterly newsletters.

In 2018, Basset and Lobaza of Seddon drew up Ercildoune’s ‘existing conditions’, a favour that smooths the path for lodging building plans in the future.

In 2019, Pamela Sutton-Legaud of Joynin assisted with Strategic Planning. Pro bono, she facilitated a special committee meeting.

Giving freely of your time, expertise and resources is a great way to boost the fortunes of Footscray Historical Society.

Creative Partnerships

Hop Nation backed the Society’s 50th anniversary celebrations in 2018 by creating The Patron brand which was served at the jubilee gathering. The Footscray boutique brewery also ran a special fundraiser for the occasion offering a lucky ticket holder a hamper of its produce.

Ercildoune Building Fund

Are you able to support Footscray Historical Society in facing a monumental financial challenge?

Ercildoune, being state heritage listed, is an expensive building to maintain. It also needs to be sensitively improved to make it all-ability accessible.

  • lift to upper floors
  • new amenities block
  • restoration of tessellated floor
  • plaster repair/painting interior downstairs
  • asphalting of the car park
  • fencing & external signage
  • underpinning foundations

A separate bank account has been opened in anticipation of Footscray Historical Society being registered as a Cultural Organisation with DGR status. Watch this space for a ‘Go fund me’ campaign.
